What is the definition of the word “Success”? Possibly success could be described as “Without failure”. Maybe it should be thought of as a “Satisfactorily completed deed or act”. Success could mean “An acceptable act, statement, condition, or process”. Which ever definition you prefer, success never has a negative connotation; it is always thought of as a positive experience.

Well, success pretty much sums up my entire career. Please, please, do not think of me as a braggart, but facts are facts. I defy anyone to find a single reference of failure or an unacceptable outcome for each and every assignment I have completed over the decades. It’s been said I often get a little too tickled with myself, but I do take issue with that!

I must admit that even I was surprised at the unbelievable rate of advancement I have achieved and that in itself is a slight problem, because there is no higher position to be attained; I’ve long ago reached the top. It’s said that I perpetually blow my own horn, but oh what a sweet melody! Each additional satisfactorily completed assignment helps strengthen my confidence and bolster the depth of my abilities. So yes, I can positively state that my entire unique career has been a total success, a very positive experience! What more can one say? To be completely honest, not everybody who is involved in, or is a witness to my dealings is happy about the outcome. Often, no one is even remotely glad to be a part of the experience, and sometimes all of the people who have watched the results of my actions are deeply saddened, can fall prey to depression, or occasionally may be approaching a suicidal state. Always the clients themselves are overjoyed, but many of the bystanders are devastated.

Unanimous outbursts of obscenities and shouts of revenge or hatred are widespread, and could be considered commonplace. Mentally disabling worry, emotional chaos, and even physical mutilation can, and does occur at an alarmingly frequent rate for bystanders, even though the client is satisfied beyond belief.

The counseling I deliver, often in an amazingly short amount of time, has made every recipient feel eager to proceed, even though they are often giving up a satisfactory situation. My guidance helps people to appreciate the opportunity of making such a fulfilling advancement.

Remember, we are all creatures who resist, or even fear change. So my assistance, encouragement, and guidance to head in a new, but far better direction is always a self-satisfying act for me, but an even more enlightening experience for the principal character, once he or she considers my wisdom and sees the light. Thus, sweet success!

I do admit that I seem to spend an awful lot of time in the same old environments, different towns and cities, but always the same type buildings or conditions, but hey, that’s where the action is! This is almost a treat today because my first appointment is in a gym, or rather a physical fitness center, and even more unusual is my client, an attractive 37 year old high school teacher, Linda Stines Myers.

Let’s see, Ms. Myers is a University of Michigan graduate, 2 years in Nicaragua with the Peace Corp., post graduate classes, married for 19 months to Brian Myers, until he was fatally wounded in Bosnia almost 9 years ago. No kids and no serious relationships since her loss. I have to say that I would not have seen this one coming as she’s not your typical candidate for my services. But I see Linda has actually prayed and pleaded for this opportunity, she has lost the lust for life, she is a mere shell of her former self, so let’s see if we can make this a smooth go.

She looks so athletic, with such a pretty face, but she definitely has that sadness, the sorrow set deep in her eyes. OK, has been on the treadmill for about 10 minutes so let’s tweak her just a little bit. It will take just a second or so. There! Did you see her eyes spring open, that sadness in her eyes replaced by a little fear. Great, she’s taking this serious, she’s hanging on to the handrails now, panting, and she’s slowing down her jog on the belt. Just a little stronger tweak this time and maybe she will notice me. Once they see me, showing that startled look, I can chalk another one up, they are mine!

That did it. She’s blinking rapidly, slowing more, some gasps, and yes, she sees me. I enjoy that look of “Where did you come from?”, but deep down inside they already know. Now she is sweating heavily, her mouth is dry, but she has me in focus. She is the only one who knows I’m here. I smile, here we go, the final zap, the bright light you sometimes hear about. She’ll instantly tense with mild spasms and a tight chest. Strangely she’ll flash a weak smile, and then she’ll completely relax as she relives every precious moment of her life. A couple thousand happy images seen in an instant. Every joyous life experience will be dancing in her head.

There, it’s over! She never felt the severe bump her head took as she collapsed on the treadmill. She has no idea that everyone has gathered around her, and the old lady, Beverly, is starting CPR. A couple of gals are biting their lips and one has a tear on her cheek. You can hear a man shouting at the 911 dispatcher. Sad for them, but just another successful venture for me.

“Well Linda, that wasn’t so bad, now was it? I will stay with you until you get the hang of walking with nothing solid under your feet, and then I’m afraid I have to head to a pool hall in East Detroit. Notice how your hair is already dry, it’s longer, and it is curled like you just had a new permanent? Look, you’ve changed clothes and you smell fresh, there are no showers here, cleanliness really is next to Godliness! A good many things will tend to take care of themselves from now on, but you will catch on quickly. Lot’s of friends now, many new, and all the old. You won’t be perpetually overjoyed here, but sorrow is just not allowed.

And before you ask, yes I am! And no, we don’t all have wings. Now that you have made your stunning debut, and I have successfully completed another assignment, I’m afraid I must once again test the limits of near perfection as I….
