A Time for Wine

In vino, veritas
You proved to me one day
When o'er your china demitasse
Your eyes asked me to stay

You sipped your extra courage
And gave a vinous kiss
of darkest, sweetest vintage
And we wound up like this

In brightlit morning after
Your eyes shifted away
I tried for easy laughter
But saw I shouldn't stay

One day you'll cease to sip
the many wines you've known
And taste alone my lips
And find my love your own

but tonight, reluctant oenist
Let's ease your conscienced guilt
And explore your private wine list
Then explore beneath your quilt
